With a few upcoming projects on the horizon I am heavily testing the Canon 5D Mark II.

Just a range of random shots to test the range of the camera. Tons of contrast coming straight out of the gate. Colors seem super hot as soon as the sun gets out here in the deseret.

Shots on train were taken at high noon just to see the image in the worst possible light.

Lots of potential . . . .

All shot with a Canon 35mm 2.0

that was lovely. did you use any stabilization device for your shots? i like your eye..great! have you seen this material blown up, say, to a large screen TV..if so, how does it hold up? would you shoot a short film for exhibition on this camera?
    congrats again. lovely job.

thank you chusy. we actually shot a few of the moving shots of the kids in the water on a dolly - then on a super padded out skateboard. that is the beauty of the camera - it's so small and powerful that you have a lot of options when it comes to movement.

the footage actually looks spectacular on the big screen (60 in plasma). colors are fantastic. i think it has a place with dramatic pieces. it's only true downfall however will be that it shoots in 30p. to my eye at least - it looks a little too smooth at times.

Fantastic. I love the speed tricks in the edit.

Really enjoyed seeing how the footage responds to being slowed-down/speeded-up. Thanks for this.

Great stuff. I love this camera for the stills, but am just starting to dip into the HD :)

hey did you use any plugins for the slow/speed?
and what was the original resolution/pixel dimensions?
correct me if i'm wrong, i'm noticing some film like grain, yes?

Also here's another one for ya, it held up pretty good in the noon sun, think it may fare well in green screen, or is the color compression too much in the codec?

    thanks a mil -max
in case i did not mention....SWEET!

no plugins whatsoever. all the footy was put through compressor to prores. resolution was full blow 1080p. really tried to stay true to the camera.
so the grain was my real test in this piece . . . wanted to see if cranking up the iso gave me a sort of "simulated" grain. i think it worked somewhat.
i think green screen is where this camera will break down - solely because of the compression happening on the actual video file that is being recorded to the card. call me crazy - but the finer details seem to break up as a result of the stupid h.264 compression.
    thats my take at least.

  • Beautifully done. The 5d is great. and THAT music...I used it for this stop motion and was pleasantly surprised.
