Mary used to volunteer with BTCV years ago. She was really interested in the residential projects to Lundy Island, where the volunteers became part of the Island community during their time there. Mary describes the island as having a magical quality that has stayed with her ever since.

Recently the BTCV Archeology Unit dug up some photos of the earliest residentials, some of which Mary contributed.

BTCV still takes volunteers to Lundy and their work now is focused on clearance of invasive Rhododendron which inhibit the growth of the unique Lundy Cabbage and the insects which survive on this plant.
