My presentation at Pecha Kucha Night: Kansas City #4, held at Crosstown Station on February 26, 2009.

“My Social Graph Is Getting Weird” attempts to answer why all these people you barely knew/didn’t know/didn’t like/etc. from your earlier years are coming out of the woodwork and sending you Facebook friend requests. This new age of connectedness brings an interesting question to light. “Are some relationships better off forgotten in the sands of time?”

The official definition from pecha-kucha.org is:

"...as we all know, give a mike to a designer (especially an architect) and you’ll be trapped for hours. The key to Pecha Kucha Night is its patented system for avoiding this fate. Each presenter is allowed 20 images, each shown for 20 seconds each – giving 6 minutes 40 seconds of fame before the next presenter is up. This keeps presentations concise, the interest level up, and gives more people the chance to show."

So really, you might call it PowerPoint performance art or PowerPoint stand-up. That's how I look at it anyway. Not everyone takes that approach. Some people actually use it to show their work.

Not me. It's all about other observations.

Sounds fun. As a traditional stand up (just me, the mic, and the stage), I'm always looking for fun new ways to perform. I do sketch and sometimes accompany myself with a video or photos. It really makes it a lot more fun and interesting sometimes. Big ups to pecha kucha for giving folks a setting to perform in a creative, non traditional manner. Good stuff

Maybe you could just add brutally honest "how I know this person" or embellish into something a bit revealing about the other person. Make it up if you need to! ;-)

@chuckreynolds has had an X's mother friend him and I'm friends with my 2nd grade teacher. *shrug*

I'm really glad you put this up. I was the Harry Potter guy that went before you and I just gotta say that your talk made my night! Keen observations on the social liabilities that haunt us now.

Great job Jeremy! I did my first Pecha Kucha in Milwaukee this year and it was a great, scary and fun ride. Really nice work on yours, cracked me up. :-)
