I'm currently in the middle of experimenting with macro footage of songbirds in New York. Eventually I plan on banding and sketching birds with a family friend who lives an hour and a half drive away. The small camcorder I own really struggles to capture detail and color as it shoots only in an mp4 format. This is probably a sign that I need to upgrade within the next year. Some of the shots show improvement later in the video in regards to the clarity of the sunflower seeds in the foreground and the bird feathers. Something I enjoy seeing is the abstraction of flight and change of form as the bird moves from off in the distance to directly in front of the camcorder. Some things to improve on for the next edit will be a better choice of ISO setting based on sunlight and a more accurate distance for macro. The birds in this video are the chickadee and titmouse.
