We talk to the Hot Flush boss as he headlines our first EQTV presents party at Chambre 69 in Glasgow…
Adrenalin, DJ Kicks, a slew of excellent releases on his label Hot Flush… Scuba was on a massive roll in 2011 – and we couldn’t have hoped for a better headliner for our first EQTV presents party. And the promise of a three-hour set from one of the most exciting DJs and producers around was a welcome Christmas present for the Chambre 69 dancefloor. Huge love to everyone who made it down – judging by the smiles on your faces, Scuba did not disappoint.
But if you thought 2011 was a big year for the man also known as Paul Rose, just wait till 2012. We caught up with him for an interview before he took to the decks and he filled us in on what’s in the pipeline for Scuba and for his label Hot Flush. There’s a new artist album from the man himself due at the start of 2012. There’s an album from the increasingly hot Sigha on the way, plus another artist album that we’ve been sworn to secrecy over – rest assured, it will be massive. Paul is also determined to keep putting out music that deserves to be heard – he’s finding plenty of it, so Hot Flush is going to be home to it.
We also got the lowdown on Scuba’s move away from dubstep into the realms of techno, and his struggle to condense a set into one CD for DJ Kicks, plus some interesting tidbits about the big love – and hate – for Adrenalin…
Scuba’s new album is due out on Hot Flush early in 2012. Visit facebook.com/scubauk and hotflushrecordings.com
