I didn't want to pay the extra money to get my 16mm prepped for Telecine, so I did it myself.

For all who don't know what Telecine means, here's the link. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telecine

Karen it looks as you made several spools ?
  • Thanks for the link :-) I have video from the telecine session I should've plopped that on the end ....but all you see are a bunch of monitors since it's so dark, and the colorist. haha. Weee film!

I used to do this many ages ago and I hated it as much as I enjoyed it. It keeps you busy for a while :)
  • The worst part is knowing that the more i handle my negative, the more dust and gross gets on it :-(

I need to be in a dust free environment. A plastic bubble. haha
  • ojo plus 9 months ago
    HaHa, dust free.
maybe you should change to digital stuff, there you only have to take care of dust on lenses.
First thing I thought of was the sound of these "laser swords" when I read dust free.
  • HAHAH laser swords!!!

karen, i did a similar timelapse yesterday. honestly, without seeing yours. you are missed and our friendship electrons are apparently turning in unison.
  • We are connected.
Now we share the same pocket pal, mine thanks to you.

My heart beats for you always. I miss you already.
  •
  • So excited to see how this video is going to look! LIGHT SEEDS! You're awesome ;)
  • Haha...It's A TON of work that I've dumped on to sebby...What's our deadline?
  • It would be the best to get it by mid March. If it is a little later it is fine but as long as we get it before April we're good :p Thanks for all the hard work Karen and Sebby! What Sebastian is this? I see you are friends with a few Sebastians ha?!
  • I'm doing it myself, turns out it's way more work than I had initially thought and it would take seb forever. It won't look as good, but I'll finish it this weekend.

    haha.

    Wow!
    I'm impress mate :)))
It looks like its very time consuming :O
  • hahaha it's not so much that its time consuming more than I have to be extra careful I don't touch the negative that much or get it dusty. :-)

Nice, at the day you posted this i went to see The Spinto Band in my town !
No idea what you are doing, but it looks interesting :p
  • hahaha Awesome!

When you shoot film, if you want to get it on your computer, you have to get it Telecined. When you telecine, your film has to be prepped for it so that it runs through their machine smoothly and you get all your footage. I have to take my film off of the daylight spool and put it on a 3 inch core and apply at least 10 feet of head and tail. :-)

that looks very cheap i spend a lot of mony in telecining my footage a month ago i should learn to do it
  • telecine prep is easy, telecine itself is better than a transfer for sure though...I spend loads getting this crap processed hee hee. I'm glad you are doing the ol film :-)

cutting the neg too, you are brave!
  • Haha I have so much 16mm that cutting the neg or scratching isn't too crazy. All the good stuff is untouched in my closet. ;-) oh look at that fun avatar, i want it to talk to me.

  • A couple minutes, maybe 10 minutes. And it was around 400ft.
