2011.XII. I finally built a simple ring modulator circuit and fed video through it, but the results weren't very exciting. It affects the signal a bit, producing a horizontal waviness, but at the price of dimming the image and loss of sharpness. With video feedback, it affects the patterns in subtle and not-so-subtle ways... e.g. the patterns are slightly different than "normal", and the flickers seem to be related to the carrier frequencies.
Suitable sound accompaniment: Laurie Spiegel's "Appalachian Grove I" (that's what I was listening to while shooting this on my pocket camera, and it went nicely).
