Hey the Scarlet can sure spin nicely :) Much better than the other cameras! Kidding aside... thanks for the overview.

I know, I had a 360 in there, but decided it would be overkill.
  • Now, I show you the front --> 360 --> And now I show you the front. Priceless!

It sure is a great camera, but i think i'll wait when canon comes with their 4K dslr, all the things you need for the red scarlet makes it an expensive camera @ the end.:)

what would be the price for this minimum configuration and does it have a build in mic, not that you would use it but as a backup mic maybe?
  • cinema5D plus 1 month ago
I believe this is around $14k
Built in mic? You mean like on a DSLR?
  • Krystian Gwizdak 1 month ago
Maybe it's just me, but doesn't built in mic help with syncing the audio in post, if recorded separately? Like you don't only have an image of clapper, but also the audio wave on timeline... Sometimes...
  • Nic Wassell plus 1 month ago
I'm 99.9999% sure the Scarlet doesn't have a built in mic. I don't think the firmware supports an external mic to be plugged in either though I could be wrong with that. Am looking to order one soon and couldn't be more excited to see the next part!
  • cinema5D plus 1 month ago
There are two 3.5mm jacks in the front. I assumed they worked for an external mic but so far we haven't gotten them to work. Only humming there...
  • Dan Rubottom plus 1 month ago
thanks for the review! but no audio really? I thought audio is working... have you asked Red support about it? thanks again.
  • Clinton Homuth 1 month ago
If you are spending 10 grand on a camera body and you can't afford external audio and a clapper. You are fucked. Re-asses your priorities.

My bank account is shuddering after watching this.
  •
  • I'm surprised the battery power is so limited for such a big looking battery and what other manufactures' batteries on the market can handle capacity-wise.

    Thanks for the overview.

Very informative. But the background music is a little too loud (or your voice is too soft for it).

I think it was very nice, but I'm with Phil... speak up. I lost about 50% of what was being said.

You should really rename this clip to "Overview" since this is isn't an actual review of the camera...
  • René Henrich 1 month ago
    I agree! I want a 30 minute detailed review ;D
