This tutorial shows how to display properties like score and health permanently in a 'head up display' (HUD).
A previous tutorial showed how to display a property within a game, a ball game, the score was displayed on the game board. That would not work in a walk around game so an 'Overlay Scene' is created to permanently display the score in what is called a 'head up display'
Unfortunately creating dynamic text in the Blender Game Engine involves UV mapping a font file to a mesh plane which is complicated and time consuming. If you follow the tutorial carefully, hopefully you will not find it too difficult.
The game is developed as you work through the tutorials. The game could be simplified, at the moment the score and heath are displayed in both the debug and HUD areas.
