1. Lost in Tokyo
Had 2 days to myself in Tokyo so I decided to take about 10,000 photos. All shot on a Canon 5D MkII. All the video footage was shot handheld.

Music is by GMZ - Parametaphoriquement

Wow, thank you very much for the kind comments. Really nice of you. It's a driver-less train so I just sat the camera on the window ledge, no mounts or tripods needed. I had some beautiful dusk shots that I'll never see from that train... I was changing cards in a hurry and left a 16GB card on the front seat. Realised this as soon as I got off. The Japanese are so trustworthy that I'd reckon it'd still be there. Thanks again Vimeo peeps.
  • mrcosta 1 month ago
Hi, amazing time-lapse video, I have been in most places that you filmed, was great to see your work, and yes I reckon your card is somewhere in the lost and found area, japanese people have an incredible attitude. don't mind me asking, but what lenses have you used?
    All the best :)

Great job capturing Tokyo's unique tempo and scale with these images. The silent smoothness with which things run. I don't think I've ever seen anything like the cut of the planes landing at Haneda--very cool! The crappy weather really worked out well for you on this, huh. I hope you have a chance to come back over and let Tokyo inspire you again. Respect!
ps - I would bet that your memory-card is safe and sound at the lost and found, which are at the end-of-the-line stations.

The Airplane scene just blew me away, and right after that the red lights on the buildings reminded me of Star Wars, more specifically Coruscant, A world which is a whole city... If we were to mimic that here on this earth Tokyo would definitely be the beginning. Fantastic work.

Great job, Mark. You've really captured the flavor and dynamism of the city. I shot a couple of music videos in Tokyo myself, for the artist Akira Kosemura and recognize many of the locations but really envy you some of your shots, especially the one from the front of the train and the one of planes coming in to land at the airport. Very nice!

Thank you! It was really odd seeing that girl hunched over in the middle of Shibuya (equivalent of Times Square in Tokyo) with everyone walking past her. She was there for quite a while, staying in exactly that position - face buried in her bag, sitting on a wet road. I think she was fine physically, just emotionally upset about something.
