Break/Down is a short that was done for an exercise for my trainee. Our class was divided into groups of three or four people and we had one week to create a film for the topic "having a break". While the other groups decided to make a comedy, we were the only group who intended to make a very melancholic film with a bit depth.

We had the chance to film in a authentic hostpital and to borrow a dolly what improved the look and feel of the hospital-room a lot. What you won`t see: When we filmed outside was a very sunny day! We had a lot of trouble not letting the sunshine in.

The credits were shot in the centre of Dortmund, a town in the Ruhrgebiet in Germany. We thought it would fit perfectly to the mood and topic of the short.

Because we filmed in a hospital we were interviewed by the local press. Here is a german newspaper article for the film:

Later this year I will write new music for this short. Not because the music of Mark Snow is bad (I LOVE the music of him!), but just to make the whole film our "complete" creation.
