About Moving Silence/dis-play collaborating project:

Moving Silence is a new platform and a network for contemporary silent movie culture. Behind this name works a group of musicians, artists and film professionals based in Berlin, who are interested in bringing the poetry of silent moving images back to the present. Moving Silence creates events in order to connect the roots of cinematography with the present aesthetics of image, the live music production and the potential of new technology.

Interactions with Canary Islands artists have been showcased during the different events of dis-play 2010 and 2011 following the basic concept of Moving S¡ilence  which is: first having a film or visual without sound and invite musitians to sonorized the movie in a ¨live¨performance.

Acerca de Moving Silence y Dis-play:

Moving silence es una nueva plataforma y una red para la cultura contemporánea del cine mudo. Detrás de ese nombre trabaja un grupo de músicos, artistas y profesionales del cine con sede en Berlín, que está interesado en llevar la poesía de las imágenes en movimiento en silencio hasta el presente. Moving silence crea eventos con el fin de conectar las raíces de la cinematografía con la estética actual de la imagen, la producción de música en directo y el potencial de las nuevas tecnologías.

En Dis-play 2011 se presentarán nuevamente interacciones con artistas de Las Islas Canarias que parten del concepto básico de Moving Silence que es, en primer lugar, tener una película sin sonido e invitar músicos a sonorizar la película en directo.
