MC Gringo is from Stuttgart, Germany. However, he has chosen to live in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro and become a Baile Funk MC.

Baile Funk is the bastard child of Miami bass and is characterised by a hard-edged dance style of rap and booty-shaking beats. Born out of the favelas of Rio and championed by the drug traffickers at their huge parties it has become a vastly misunderstood form of music . It is often characterised by outsiders as merely ghetto music that celebrates sex and violence. However, at it's heart is a music of resistance and a music which represents solidarity for the favelas of Rio de Janeiro.

This film follows MC Gringo within this very private, closed and occasionally dangerous world. He is the only foreigner on the Rio scene, yet he sings in Portuguese and struggles for success like any other Baile Funk MC.
