In late spring of 2011, I took my first of what I hope will be many future photography trips to the pacific northwest. This is a compilation of stills, video and ambient audio I gathered while traveling solo around the Olympic Peninsula for a week.
The images I captured on this short journey come from the Lake Quinault temperate rainforest, the coastal sea stacks and beaches of La Push, the deep, glacier-fed Lake Crescent and the snow and cloud-covered peak of Hurricane Ridge.
The stills and much of the video are shot on the Canon 5D Mark II. The car and chest-mounted video are all from a GoPro HD Hero at 720p/60. Ambient audio was captured with a Zoom H4n. Stills were processed in Lightroom 3 and editing done in Final Cut Pro X (my first project with it after years of using the previous FCP releases through 7).
The music is used with the very gracious permission of the artists:
"Chanterelle" - As the Crow Flies by Crowfoot
"The Bottom" - Machinarium Soundtrack by Tomáš DvoĆák.
NOTE: An 8Mbit/sec 1080p version can also be found in my Vimeo profile.
