My first attempt (16yrs old) at narrative "drama." In this case it's emo-melodrama with a slew of the best emo music; indeed, the entire plot centers on attending a Bright Eyes concert with the two male protagonists' namesakes being two famous emo singers (one from Bright Eyes and one from Taking Back Sunday). And Azario's haircut comes straight from early '00's Conor Oberst.
This *is* a bit misogynistic and totally objectifies women down to tits and ass, which I'm pretty embarrassed of. Thanks Dad. It also might either be homophobic or suppressed homophilia ... Thanks US mass media. And it's sort of terribly written. Well. No. It's adolescent. Come on, I was sixteen so ...
It's set entirely in that one room which I thought was very edgy at the time and had never seen anyone do it before (by now I've seen at least a few). Some other experiments strewn in but mostly benighted.
But my misogynist character dies (because he's a sexist?) so that sort of ... it's a morality tale? I remember showing it to my then girlfriend and her best friend about a year and a half after making it and they laughed at me and the movie from start to credits. Through their laughter they said indeed it did make them cry. But when I first finished it my best friend at the time said it made him cry from sorrow. Hehehe. I was so proud.
