2-channel video installation, teaser.
In March 2009 and January 2010 I spent time documenting a small sugarcane cutting community near Aguilares, El Salvador. The men and women I interviewed on camera spoke candidly about their lives, their concerns (chronic kidney disease has been ravaging Central American sugarcane workers), and their dreams for the future (many of which involved their desire to emigrate to the US). This media project is an attempt at portraying what I encountered there in the most respectful way possible; creating a portrait of their collective experience while preserving the integrity and dignity of each individual story.
