Inspiration for our recent series logo was drawn from kayak dot com ads; so we decided to go for a similar look in animating the slide on screen. The design was created in Adobe Illustrator and brought into After Effects as a layered composition. Individual letters were then masked out, duplicated, and stacked before being pre-composed again. The letters were set as 3d layers and the x-rotation parameter was animated, motion blur was turned on to help sell the look. As a final touch we added semi-transparent shape layers across the background to give the illusion of random motion on the tiles.
