Information technology has become a ubiquitous presence. By visualizing the processes that underlie our interactions with this technology we can trace what happens to the information we feed into the network.

Please tell me you used plexus so I can sleep tonight :)
Sound design was really good too.
    Well done Michael!
  • Michael Rigley plus 1 month ago
    Thanks!
Nah, no plexus. Forms are generated with cinema. Composite, type, etc in ae.
  • Philip White 1 month ago
Is there perhaps any Trapcode Form used?!

Those forms without plexus are amazing!

I guess you're using a hell of a lot of displacement effectors?
  • Michael Rigley plus 1 month ago
No form, some particular for the atmosphere stuff. The rest is mostly mograph, some particles and various other c4d stuff.

Fails as an infographic, succeeds wildly as a visual accompaniment to the narration.
  • mariano moreno 1 month ago
    i completely disagree
  • Jono Seneff plus 1 month ago
    I agree (with Jason)
  • Richard Lyon 1 month ago
I agree with Jason. If I listen to just the narrative, and listen to the narrative and watch the video, I end up knowing exactly the same about the subject. Which suggests the infographic has not added any information. But I got to the end of the narration *because* I could watch the graphic. So adds value, but in a different way.

Spooky. I don't know if relative marketing decreases the value of information and I would not reduce my identity to my internet activity... though I get the picture. Nice work. Service providers should seriously consider being more forthcoming with how they share and or sell our personal information, such as an up front opt-in/opt-out option.
  • Patrick McLoad pro 1 month ago
Totally agree. I have to assume the figures are correct in this piece, and I guess that's the price of Internet useage (incl. Vimeo), but I am more concerned about intrusion and manipulation by big government. I can always decline any sales offers, but laws and invasion of privacy by govt. is quite another.

Excellent work. Posted to "Animation Excellence Channel"; vimeo.com/channels/258909

-only change would be to do a hierarchical structure of services leading from 12 months, to 60, to the 80 months. Great message though, Have you seen the third Zeitgeist Movie? Narrator reminds me of him.

In the end you say ”information ceases to be information at all”. What does it turn in to?
  • Michael Rigley plus 1 month ago
I think the main concern is that information becomes more personalized to the individual's location and history. The access to unlimited information eventually becomes a conglomeration of the things the individual usually views (dictated by the sale/advertisement of products). The free flow of information may ultimately become the mediated experience of commodities.

This video is captivating in 2 ways:
    - in the first place, it is the information that is carried throughout the storyline;
    - in the second one, the way it is represented.

These 2 perspectives are closely interwoven.

There is a tremendous amount of work behind this, and it is captivating.

Congratulations for that piece of art and information.

This is nice forecast of what web4.0 will bring where your personal footprints are becoming a new currency for every individual internet user. It's something like a Personal Graph where your graphs (link, social, travel, call, interest graph) around several webservices are coming together.
