I am preparing a hardware hack to present the internet of things idea in a social media related event. First thought: a good old mood light, controlled by the sentiments of a certain topic on twitter. using red for negative, green for positive and blue for neutral tweets.
This thing works quite well using an api call for analyzing tweet sentiments, and another to parse the response outside the arduino.
Besides the tech details, the idea of the mood light is too... "relaxed". Even the big rushing topics are quite levelled, as you can see here where I scan for #fail. One could say that this mood light is powered by all the negative sentiments twitter has to offer. But it's still quite balanced.
Let's see if I can work on the representation, perhaps make it a little more physical.
