THE PRECESSION: AN 80 FOOT LONG INTERNET ART PERFORMANCE POEM*
3 hour durational live work mapped to Defibrillator Performance Art Gallery

*******
I forget, in manufactured micro-currents, the stiffness and stillness that is evident when we measure ourselves in arcseconds.

The cadets are trained to understand this. The tumbling of the dryer is an instructive new notation. They do everything just as requested.

The old procession of images hardened their arms as they stretched out ahead of them and down the road.

It was ninety cents for a pack of Marlbolos. Ninety cents, now it's fucking nine dollars.

*The Precession is a data-feed performance poem that creates visual-poetic arrangements based on inquiries into architecture, the laboring body, and night sky. Instigated by a study of the Hoover Dam and a complex celestial map created to commemorate its completion in 1935, the work integrates original writing, real-time text-mining, and the positions of celestial bodies above the performance to construct a choreographed event in live and virtual space. The piece was previously realized as The Precession: An 80 Foot Internet Art Performance Poem, a large-scale performance and 10-screen installation at Hyde Park Art Center in 2011. The 80 foot version integrated a core group of male dancers with invited interventions from various experts on the topic of 'precession' in different discourses.

The Artists have been in residence at Defibrillator since December 21st to rehabilitate the full version of the work for performances in Phoenix and NYC in 2012.
