So Alita was bugging me on New Year's Day to fly a kite (takoage), which clueless me had no idea was a tradition in Japan. Little did I also know, all three kids of course knew the shougatsu (new year's) song by heart that they learned in yochien (preschool), which talks of flying a takoage. So we walked out to the beach this first day of our apocalyptic year ;-) and flew a simple white kite that Mikko made back in shougako ( but never flew) and sang the song too. It was very peaceful and full of happiness, which is our wish to you.
