Each musician is recorded separately and later put together in one piece.

I really like the size, and of course, the video itself!

well done! this is wonderful. i'm in no way a web or video fan, but this is when it all comes together for a good purpose--imagination-wise and creatively!

Were they playing at different tempos? The syncing between the musicians feels off, but I doubt it's your fault.

This LOOKS absolutely stunning. I played it full-screen and it blew me away. Your editing is excellent as well.
  • Caroline Martin 9 months ago
Yeah, this is wonderful in full screen. :]

wow that looks and sounds amazing in HD on full screen.

How do you make these wide aspect ratios?

Thank you all for nice response! It's a pleasant surprise..
Some answers: Each of musicians played it in different tempo, (2nd.violin was the slowest :) ) Later I edited all in one timeline and composited in to this long wast aspect ratio. Was looking at original music score to find places for musicians to meet..

great job. i loved hearing all the different tempos. the slow violin is fun to watch. really cool. i'd love to hear other compositions given the same treatment. it's so fun to hear classical music messed around with like this. i want to see this done to bach.

    This is an interesting idea.
Did all of you know each other ahead of time?

It'd be interesting to do a collaborative string quartet...via videochat or some other way where the tempos would line up.

P.S.: is that Lenin in your profile pic??

    Yep, we knew eachother.
Videochat is good idea! will try one day..

    That is Lenin indeed:)

all the video stuff is great, but musically it reminds me of a story about an assistant during a paul simon recording session who somehow lost/erased all the vocal takes from that day. when paul heard his performance was gone he proceeded to vomit all over the recording console.

i'd like to think mozart is vomiting all over himself every time someone plays this video.

    one word...metronome

Mozart was a playful dude, maybe he would be laughing instead?

  • This is wonderful. Although I had more fun listening to it without the video as it really is a sound piece. Highly complex emotionally as the harmonic accidents pile up and are miraculously resolved (also by accident). Cage meets Mozart indeed.
  • IK 7 months ago
    Thank you!
I do agree about Cage with you :)

As everyone else has said, love the aspect ratio. The different tempos make for an interesting piece of contemporary music with a familiar feel to it.
    Great work.

Great idea, but I wish they played at the same tempo so they would be on sync. It just sounds out of place like that. Good job though.

Really Great! Incredible timing too of all the musicians. The aspect ratio is great, but you should've had this without the black bars..

    Very well done though!
