Here's a little synth nerd video - using my new Intellijel uVCA.
I start with a Sine wave into the uVCA, modulated by a AD envelope with a short attack and medium release - this envelope remains unchanged for the first minute.
By varying the response curve pot on the uVCA you can hear the effect on the shape of the envelope.Obviously even more options are available if you vary the envelope generator lengths in tandem with this control but I kept the envelope constant for this demo.
At around 0:30 I add in a little "bias" while the response is set to exp. this allows you to boost the level and even overdrive the peaks if you wish - which is a handy trick to add some edge to sounds - you can hear the extra harmonics as the sine wave squares off.
At 0:53 I switch to a PWM square output from the VCO, and just have some fun with the envelope and filter...
Only one AD envelope is being sent to both the filter and VCA, but by varying the response and bias pots on the uVCA it's possible to get very different envelope shapes on the VCA vs the filter - and almost generate the sound of two separate envelopes generators...
BTW, there's also a little bit of delay added from about half way through.
Noisering: Master Clock & a 16 step voltage pattern for "Shift" input on uScale.
Pressure Points & Brains: 8 step voltage pattern, going into uScale input. Clocked by the Noisering.
uScale: pitch quantising the combination of the 16 step noisering pattern and 8 step pressure points pattern. CV out to A110 VCO.
Doepfer A110 VCO: Sine output for the first half and PWM'd square for the second half of the video.
uStep: 16 step trigger sequence, triggering Ian Fritz "All-in EG".
All-In EG (DIY 5U): Envelope for the uVCA and Yusynth Arp 4072 filter. Fast attack and Medium release.
uVCA: On the output of the VCO, with envelope CV from the All-In EG. Followed by the Arp filter.
Yusynth Arp 4072 filter (DIY 5U): LPF, with envelope CV from the All-In EG - this is the last module in the chain.
