Takaosan (san = mountain) is around 30 minutes from downtown Tokyo by train. Famous for monkeys, Tengu (think pinnochio-like Japanese mountain god) and soba (buckwheat noodles) it provides a nice antithesis to the hustle and bustle of one of the world's busiest cities.

In February 2009 I had the pleasure of experiencing Takaosan with my friend Yosuke and his girlfriend Rion.
