This is a video prototype for a natural user interface based futuristic tablet pc. We know that the interface is highly nonfunctional and way to 'sci fi like'. But since the assignment is more about proving that you have the technical skills to make a video prototype than the actual functionality/design of it we went all out ^^

Definition: In computing, a natural user interface, or NUI, is the common parlance used by designers and developers of computer interfaces to refer to a user interface that is effectively invisible, or becomes invisible with successive learned interactions, to its users. The word natural is used because most computer interfaces use artificial control devices whose operation has to be learned. A NUI relies on a user being able to quickly transition from novice to expert.

The story is that this tablet is able to help elderly people remembering daily tasks and support them during these tasks. It begin's with a automatic warning/message that his or her family is visiting today. To help the user remember who is coming he can hover the tablet over his family pictures. The tablet shows the user who's coming and what their birthday's are. In this case it's the birthday of one of the user's visitors. He decides to bake a cake and looks up the ingredients and steps on his tablet pc by hovering above the cake form. Same goes for the coffee. When the user hold the tablet above the cups the tablet shows who want's milk or sugar in his coffee.

The video was shot on a Canon 60D and 7D using a 24-105L and some sigma prime lenses.

The edit was done in After Affects and premiere. We filmed a piece of Plexiglas with a green peace of paper behind it. We then keyed out the green and keyed the reflection back in. For the movement we tracked each of the corners of the tablet and applied it to different null object. I then used a effect called Corner Pin to connect every corner of the animation to a Null object. You do this by ALT klikking on the stopwatch and using the expresion value=(then pigwip to the null for that corner). I then placed a identical shots without the green plexiglas behind the animation and the tablet shot. This way it looks like you can see trough the tablet enhancing the futuristic look. The grading was done with magic bullet looks.
