The extensive mudflats of the UK's estuaries may look like bleak unforgiving wastelands, but not only are they an invaluable flood defence system, they are like a motorway service station for millions of wintering birds. Photographer Chris Gomersall and sound recordist Chris Watson got together to capture the aerial ballet that's played out above the mud.
