Lake Tahoe is a part of the Lake Tahoe Basin with the modern lake being shaped during the ice ages. It is known for the clarity of its water and the panorama of surrounding mountains on all sides. Lake Tahoe is fed from 63 tributaries with the Truckee River as the only outlet. The Truckee flows northeast to Nevada and into Pyramid Lake which has no outlet.
