We had a great day in Coyote Canyon…when we finally got there! After a longer than normal stop and some fun and enlightening conversation (ask Ryan about his encounter with a tank sometime) at Dudley’s Bakery outside Julian, the group headed out through the snow down into Borrego Springs. Will surprised us all and brought his three dogs, which were a great addition to the day! I mean come on, what better way to keep kids occupied than with slobbery, friendly, active dogs?
This was a new trail for most of us, and coming across relatively deep water in the desert was a shock. We had so much fun driving through the “river” that on the way back, going Jeep surfing once wasn’t enough. Boys being boys, a little competition started, and it was all about driving fast and making big waves! Of course, there was the added bonus of clean jeeps when we were through. The other unexpected surprise was the oasis in the desert. After a short trek, the desert opened up to a beautiful waterfall. It was definitely worth the hike! Good times…good times. his was probably my 4th or 5th run with the 4X4 Corps and I have to say that my favorite part of all these trips is spending time with awesome people. Off-roading is always fun, but it’s even better when you can laugh with, and sometimes at, the people on the trail. Running with this club is a blast. Bring your Jeep, bring your family, heck, bring a step ladder for Jeff, and get ready for an amazing experience!
