PATANG is a feature length drama set during the jubilant atmosphere of India's largest kite festival, written & directed by Prashant Bhargava. As speakers blast and fireworks sparkle, three stories unfold that explore the intimate dynamics of family, love and friendship.

Award winning director Prashant Bhargava's short film Sangam premiered at Sundance Film Festival and was broadcast on Arte/ZDF, Sundance Channel and PBS. For the past fourteen years, he has been directing and designing commercials and promos for such clients as HBO, Accenture, Nokia, PBS and Volvo.

    Happy to see this short finally get a little play. Put it together with some travel footage between commercial work and an another larger film project. Too often, short experimental work doesn't have a place - whether it be in festivals or online versus short comedy. Big props to vimeo and their staff for creating a forum for us.

    oh how sweet, meditative, relaxing ... a short trip to kerala from my cold terminal back in winterlike vienna ...
    loved it!
    and after the sunset ... a stop ... some onion uttapam ... and suddenly you get the taste of the best coconutchutney in the world!!!

    it seems like we can even touch the texture of picture when you shoot this on super 8. i'm going to bring my super 8 camera for my trip to morocco.

    I made this film a while ago - there's certainly a romanticism about it.

    While making the new film, I'm proud of my growth in feeling and learning to observe, recognize, take part in and represent the joy and pride of the kite festival.

    Thanks. Shot on Kodachrome 40 (now discontinued) & Telecined at Tape House in NY (some years back not sure if its there anymore). Shot in 2003.
