Great! What camera was this shot with?
  • ße ωell ;-) plus 10 months ago
the camera in front of the lens is the D80, the one behind the lens is the D90 :)

Some day I'll actually get a camera that is capable of taking decent resolution video (640x480 on my Ricoh is useless really).

I'm not really a video person, but something like this is so accessible.
  • ße ωell ;-) plus 10 months ago
that's the beauty about this project - you don't need an 'artsy fartsy' video camera - a series of video from your mobile is enough, just make the clips interesting ;-)

A good idea and well translated here. I like the way you have included some of your kit also.

When I find time I may just have a go and send you a share.
  • ße ωell ;-) plus 10 months ago
thanks Keen, look forward to it :)

very nice, it's soothing. i am wondering kind of lens is on that camera?
  • ße ωell ;-) plus 10 months ago
thanks Claudia, both cameras are wearing their standard kit lenses - the D80 is wearing the 18-105mm f3.5 to f5.4 VR lens and the D90 was wearing the 18-70mm f3.5 to f4.5 lens - both made by nikkor ;-)
  • Claudia Robinson 10 months ago
oh ok! thank you. i am a canon person.. 20D. sure wish it shot HD video...waaaahhh!!!
    keep up the great work!

I have always been intrigued with the concept of a stick in the water. Which leads to the question of how did the stick reach this destination and did this fulfill the destiny of the stick or accomplish a single segment of the stick’s excursion. Great 5 vignettes – yet many questions remain unanswered :-)
  • ße ωell ;-) plus 10 months ago
ah now that's the conundrum of the stick, was it pushed or did it come to rest of its own accord? Guess we will never know the truth of the sticks fate ;-)

thanks for the comment Rick, are your brave enough to tackle this project or are you still within the bowls of cruise ships?

The things that struck me most about this vid - your titles, the view and gloomy sky! Perfect! :-)
  • ße ωell ;-) plus 10 months ago
click the 'like' button then ;-)

Cheers Trig, AE gave me a little help with the titles, nature did the rest. You could do one of these with some of your VFX outtakes ;-)
  •
  • TrigFX 10 months ago
    Whoops! Good point! :-)

My outtakes aren't worth posting, trust me! I'm trying to get a job, not scare people away! lol

So yer getting in AE now? Nice one! I may have to hire you one day...! ;-)
  • ße ωell ;-) plus 10 months ago
    cheers bud & lol ;D

this project is all about using video footage you would probably never use again - that's the big appeal of it anyway ;-)

once I'm up to speed on AE, I'll probably give you a hand bud - for a pint or two of course :)

  • Teddy Pemberton 10 months ago
that was excellent. I like that your 5x5 was focused, unlike some others, which lack in that area. Focus allows us a more complete emotion when the progress bar reaches the end.

    well done.
  • ße ωell ;-) plus 9 months ago
    thanks Ted,

I would probably never have used any of this footage again if it wasn't for the 5 by 5 project. You should give it a go - it's real easy ;-)

  • ße ωell ;-) plus 9 months ago

Nice one Be. I like these because I wonder how the people decided what 5 things to film.
  • ße ωell ;-) plus 9 months ago
    thanks bud :)

I hadn't planned to do a 5 by 5, but I didn't know how I was going to use these shots (if ever) in anything else - so they became 5 by 5 material...

You should try one with your 5D2 - you probably have tons of footage to use ;-)

    this is a sequence that i can relate to - a true time-lapse geeks reality - the other 90% you don't see ; - )
    well done.
  • ße ωell ;-) plus 9 months ago
...not to mention the shots that never see the light of day ;-)

this little project provided me with a good way to share an experience, and keep it abstract at the same time :)

thanks Chad, pleased I'm one of the T/L geeks :D
