This short film is the result of the genre exercise made by students at the National Film School of Norway. "Cut | Paste" was shot on 16mm film (2 rolls of film, which equals 20 minutes of material). The entire film was shot on a sound stage with two studio decorations, over the course of two days.

It is our intention to tell a specific story, with logical plot points. But after the first screening, we received some interesting interpretations of the film during the feedback session. So before we post any synopsis or text that says "this is the story", we would love to hear your interpretations of our story. We encourage comments below!

And even if you don't get the story, we still hope you enjoy the beautiful images by cinematographer Fredrik A. G. Sundbye.

[Disclaimer: Our film's distribution rights isowned and controlled by the film school, so if the school protests the availability of "Cut | Paste" on Vimeo, we'll be forced to remove it. So enjoy while you can!]

Music and sound design was done by Ali Parandian. A very talented man. He was coached by Foley artists from skywalker ranch and the sound mixer who mixed bladerunner.... very cool...

It's originally mixed for 5.1 sound

Amazing images that supported an excellent story. The cloning process seems to have worked, however the little boy left over in his orignal body is set free to death or the next world? The mother is wondering herself? Did I still lose a little boy?

I think your short story will create a conversation about the future possibilities of cloning and downloading the human spirit to another being. It is a nice open ended conclusion to your film.

Well done! I look forward to hearing about an award or 2 related to this sharp little story.
