Ourchaeology makes everyone an archaeologist.It aims to links home-school and museum based learning by utilising web and mobile technologies, enabling young people in real-time, while out in the streets and country side to use real archaeological data to design and carry out projects.
Ourchaeology is primarily for junior cycle second-level students and enables supported, self-directed learning and creative thinking. With Ourchaeology, teachers and students can:
Enhance school trips by bridging the experience in the field with classroom learning and project work
Discover new perspectives and multiple ways of making the past relevant in the present
Learn and apply skills that draw on on multiple subjects, including maths, science, communication, ICT and social studies
Connect learning from primary-level history curricula with a broader, deeper process-based experience as they transition to second level
Do original research into the past, designed around their own interests, skills and abilities
Get real-world experience in managing, filtering and assessing large amounts of information
