mmmm trapcode, I need some of that. I love the DoF effects on all of the particles. Also M83 is an excellent choice.

I think you pretty accurately captured the feel of M83's music with those bright neon particles and light in space. I've always imagined something similar in my head when listening to their music before. Well done, I really enjoyed this piece!

  • The bulb thingy at 1:40 is way too cool. All form camera movements /DOF are innovative and classic

I really really liked this! How long did it take to do the Trapcode?
  • dannorton 2 years ago
the whole project was about 4 days worth of work shooting/animating, then Dave edited over a month or so before this final piece was ready. I made maybe 2 or 3 more clips over the course of that month; in total i'd say about 6 days of AE/Particular work.

Wow great stuff I really love this video, I hadn't really used form before, not until recently. Im designing a similar feel to Pierre Michel's Polar and form is quite amazing. Since watching your video I am inspired to produce more animations using form.

    Keep up the good work

this is amazing. Is anything else used apart from Trapcode Form? Is Shine used?
  • dannorton 2 years ago
no shine; form is the only trapcode stuff on there; other effects were simply glow and CC time blend/timewarp....pretty sure that's it.

one of the few tasteful uses of trapcode and particles in general. i like it and i like how you integrated it with footage (great job on the bulb reflection ;)

music sounds a bit low-fi though, could be my headphones but i doubt it. i think normalization is in order. and if you don't mind my saying, changing the band :P

    love it, great job!

This video is awesome! I love how simple it is yet it still kept my attention the entire time. Great way to combine both video work and Trapcode form! I thought the music was perfect for it!

seriously gorgeous. who needs food when you can just watch juicy, deliciously sensual videos? also- was this the same technology for radiohead's house of cards video?

I look forward to your future work.

This is a very beautiful looking work. My only comment would be about the swinging bulbs near the beginning. They looked like flat artwork, and I found them kind of jarring against the soft and glowing look of the entire rest of the visuals. I liked the motion as they swung around, though.
I really love the feel of space, and the incorporation of real video with the particle work.

Really really fanstastic work. Haven't used Form but how did you manage to get the Depth of Field working, is that the After Effects camera or a feature in Form?
  • dannorton 1 year ago
thanks dude! -- in Form, you have to enable the camera DoF in the render settings, so a combo of both.

I would rather watch this everytime I see M83 than that shit video with the teenagers! You're fantastic!

ever heard of processing or cinder? i wonder how difficult it would be to port just the particle animation into that. then all that would be needed is dof additions in ae.
