  • Dope video once again! How did you capture the first tracking shot. Did you use a dolly?
  • Yo Thanks Aaron!

That shot was from Steven Hamilton's riding section of my last BMX DVD The Day Is Over (2004). It was a crazy memory and set up to accomplish it. I had my tripod/camera setup in the back of a pick up truck and filmed it while it drove next to Steven's riding at full speed. Luckily the shot came out halfway decent.
    Appreciate the feedback man.
Keep killing it on your videos.
Hope Chi-Town is going good for ya!! :)
    Cheers!

    Always good stuff Elliot!
I wanna get myself a Bolex and shoot some stuff, I saw one at a thrift store by my job and have no idea what to look for to make sure it's in good working condition or what a good price would be.

    Andy
  • Thanks Andy! Appreciate it man.

I used one back during my time at Film School at Columbia College in Chicago for my Production 2 Class (Around 2006).
It's an alright camera for the most part.

Here's a link to the Bolex Site that might answer some of your questions....

Good work on this Elliot. I like the use of street performance music. Good choice. Good timelapse shots. Always psyched to see trail riding. Thanks for sharing
  • Thanks Mark! I really appreciate it man, your videos on Vimeo are all sweet too. I enjoy them all. I was very happy I got to record that performer in Chicago on the train tracks that day (May 2007). Rare meeting turned out to be a very good thing.

Hey Elliot, really enjoyed this video man. Love the feeling of all the Chicago shots and the vintage Steven Hamilton clips mixed in there. I have a Bolex 16mm too that's been sitting in my office without any action in 5+ years. Keep up the great work.
  • Hell Yeah Will!!
    Thanks so much man!

Nice work, Elliot. I still love that first clip of Steven Hamilton, and that story about how you shot it. The 16mm footage looks great too.
  • Thanks Bud!
    I appreciate the feedback.
I've been meaning to shoot some NEW 16mm Stuff, (maybe even some 35mm if I can get my hands on some soon) Most of that 16mm was shot at my time at Columbia College film school in Chicago (2004-2008).

I plan to shoot a lot of NEW content on my NEW HD Panasonic Ag-Hpx170 camera. I have a few BMX projects in Michigan, Denver, and Seattle in the works for 2012. Hoping they pan out well. Also a few music video projects in the Detroit area coming up this Spring. Looking forward to it all.

I still love your The Maumee River video and the Color Correction you did on it. Some of those dolly shots are so smooth and Rich. Great quality.
    Hope you're doing good!
    Cheers!
