You can get with this or you can get with that, you can get with this or you can get with that... can you hear the jingle in your head? I don't quite remember all the words (maybe you do) but I know somewhere in the lyrics "cuz this is where it's at" is worked in. For me, it's not just knowing "where it's at," but also what "IT" is. I'm not sure I care where "IT'S at" until I know what "IT" is. And that's what this story is about...the NOT knowing. The undeclared IT.
God asks Abram (aka Abraham) to live, follow and obey - and Abram does...without always knowing what God's THAT or IT was. Abram trusted God, lived out his faith through his actions, and God blessed him. God blessed him with children, descendants, a legacy of followers in faith, land, wealth and a long life. So really, there were A LOT of ITS or THATS.
My name is neither Abram or Sarai, but I know God is asking me to do the same thing that He asked Abram and Sarai to do. He wants me to trust Him with all of ITS and all of my THATS so He can show himself faithful, loving, kind and trustworthy.
So today I ask the Lord to help me trust Him; to help me live my faith out by giving back to Him all of my THIS and THATS. What about you?
