Beautiful. Is it musical too? Or will it be?
  • Cristobal Mendoza plus 2 weeks ago
Thank you! No, it is not musical at the moment, but we are interested in exploring interactive sound at some point.

hey, that amasing, i really really like it ! Did you use the same openframeworks like you did for the nervous structure 3 ?
  • Cristobal Mendoza plus 2 weeks ago
Thanks! The software is very similar to NS 3, I just made a couple of changes in the physics simulation. Drawing happens via OpenFrameworks, and I'm using Chipmunk Physics for the simulation.

I love how people get drawn in with this and start to play again like children. It's beautiful to see and there should be more of this type of work. A little bit of magic happened here.

It makes me want to understand how the forces are applied to the vertical elastic elements. I can think of two possibilities, Air flow or some sort of electro-magnetic drive. For all the high end video purist who loathe Moire patterns, this is a great example of real art.
    An amazing film.
  • Cristobal Mendoza plus 1 week ago
Thank you! The forces are indeed modulated through a simulated fluid. And the moire comment is interesting... Indeed the effect of projecting over the lines is somewhat like reducing the resolution of the video.

It is not often that I am deeply moved by abstract art. This film opened a whole new world for me.
