Love is in the Error: Pathetic Solutions to Pathetic Problems is new work by the artists Chris von Szombathy & Drew Shaffer. This show of sculptural work puts forth their mutual conception that our actions are both pathetic and divine; that what is gauche is more revealing than what is graceful. Both artists’ work grows between Rococo and Pop branches and their work is proof that the exegesis of our existence is as ignored as it is apparent.
Chris von Szombathy is published by Drawn & Quarterly and has also appeared in volumes by Gestalten, TV Books/Gutter, Publication Studios and Anteism. His work has been appeared in galleries like in Canada, the UK, USA and Spain. He has also been nominated for a Doug Wright Award and a Western Canadian Music Award.
Drew Shaffer is a Vancouver artist who has shown work with the Monte Clark Gallery, Bjornson-Kajiwara, Lehmann, Leskiw & Schedler, Katherine Clarke, Arco, the Toronto Art Fair and the Triton Museum of Art. He was also the recipient of the Helen Pitt Award in 1994.
