This footage is authentic. No compositing or digital effects have been used. Giant cruise liners, equal in size to the Costa Concordia, pass through Venice's Giudecca Canal every day. Last year alone about 2000. Just imagine the disaster scenario if something went wrong. It's the real life thriller we're all so nervous about and it's been happening for years, right in the heart of the city of Venice.

Director Ries Straver pulled the footage from his archives. It was filmed in 2005 from San Lazzaro, a little island in the Venice lagoon.
