A still from an old Calvé peanut-butter television commercial that aired in 1992 and introduced two novelties in the Netherlands: it was the first commercial with a duration of 1 minute (in stead of the usual 20 seconds) and the first commercial featuring a custom-made computer game.
The computer game was created by Team Hoi, existing of programmer Reinier van Vliet, musician Ramon Braumuller and me (game design and graphics), by assignment of the Ogilvy & Mather advertising agency.
The game was created on the good old Commodore Amiga computer and we had to work with very limited computer capacity, such as only 16 colors for the graphics.
Following the commercial the game was played by kids in the most popular Dutch children's matinee of that time: Telekids. Those who managed to complete the game won their height in stacked jars of Calvé peanut-butter.
The girl who starred in the commercial is nowadays well-known as actress Lieke van Lexmond, starring in a popular daily Dutch tv soap called Goede Tijden, Slechte Tijden. The Calvé commercial was her debut.
We attended the shoot of the commercial's live action part and I remember that Lieke performed quite smoothly, while the boy kept forgetting his text, probably because of nervousness.
