Recently I started thinking about the videos I make and whether or not they make any difference in the world. I believe that a well done wedding video could be the future spark needed for a couple, even twenty years from now, that reminds them of their love and commitment made to each other. I enjoy music videos, but for the most part they are just entertainment and not usually a life changer. Same goes for most every other video I can make.
I did the Colombian orphanage video recently, but I decided I also needed to make a video for my church. I have all this equipment, I have free time, so why not? It's tough for me because I would say a large percentage of my friends are either agnostic or atheist, and in modern society intelligent people are "supposed" to be too smart for religion. Christianity and religion are such loaded words, and I really don't like associating with them. I have read the book Mere Christianity (by C.S. Lewis) several times, and it explains Christianity in its simplest form and gives the road map to forming a relationship with God and living your life. It has really clarified a lot of things for me.
Over the last few thousand years there has been no shortage of great thinkers: Plato, Socrates, Aristotle, Confucius, Jesus, etc. There has been no shortage of wisdom and advice to live your life, and yet anyone that is honest with his or herself realizes that no one lives their life as perfectly and fulfilling as they would like. I can't blame the advice, nor religion, nor can I blame Christianity for some of its darker moments in history in which people did things in the name of Christianity. I can only try to make a difference in the world. I believe my church is making a positive difference in the world, and this is my effort to help them.
