On January 21, 2012, Pomona College invited three renowned artists to re-stage public performance pieces they had originally performed at Pomona in 1970 and 1971, as part of The Pacific Standard Time Performance and Public Art Festival.
Closing the program, James Turrell '65 recreated his 1971 performance Burning Bridges, a visual spectacle utilizing road flares. Turrell, famous for his experiments with Light and Space art, lit flares to bring an immediate and brilliant orange glow that enveloped Big Bridges and its surroundings.
