Excellent short. Just one small piece of advice for Garrett:

You're a very good actor, but you might want to work on the timing of your lines a bit more. There were times throughout the short where you seemed rushed to deliver them. Consider slowing down a bit and make every line count.
  • garrettmurray plus 2 years ago
Thanks, Peter. I definitely agree and have already made a mental note to slow down and get a little deeper into the character in our next film. Glad you liked it!
  • Justin Bull 2 years ago
I find myself thinking the same thing. There are moments where I feel immersed in the short and then the timing kinda jerks me out again. Otherwise outstanding video, almost teared up a smidgen!

    Gez man. That was great.

Wait, didn't you release a friggin iPhone app today?? You're insane. I wish I was even half that productive.
  • garrettmurray plus 2 years ago
I did, yeah. I've got issues. Apparently if I'm not constantly working I'll die. It's sort of like Speed, and I'm the bus, only instead of speeding it's working.
  • Jeremy Ricketts 2 years ago
I saw that you released the app today, had a patch by about 11am, twittered all day, and put out a video. Oh, and the video has a microsite.

Honestly, I'd like to hear what life is like when you're that productive. Are you super regimented? Does this leave time for working out, having a significant other, reading books, watching TV, reading feeds, etc?

Okay those might be weird questions, but I think your "average mortal" like myself would really benefit from a blog post about how the hell you seem to have 1/3 more hours in the day than the rest of us. I think it might be less about work ethic and more about goal setting and strategizing?

    What's your methods?
  • garrettmurray plus 2 years ago
I think I will write up a blog post on this, because I get asked this a lot (especially during multiple releases like this) and would love to give people perspective on how I work/function.

Thanks for the nudge--look for it tomorrow afternoon.

It seems very unrealistic that the super hot girl decides to hang out with this very plain dude who is randomly cruel to her on the street. And if your last sex is going to be that uninspiring... god, that's depressing. I liked the last scene, though. The music was good.
  •
  • Per Torstensson 2 years ago
Truly awesome indeed. Loved it. The music was also excellent. Reminded me of John Murphy's score for "Sunshine". Omagah-omagah-omagah. Great stuff.

May one ask what camera was used?
  • garrettmurray plus 2 years ago
We shot this with the Panasonic HVX-200a, with a Cinevate 35mm lens adaptor. We used the Nikon 50mm 1.8 and 28mm 2.8 prime lenses.
  • Per Torstensson 2 years ago
Saw your post on "Maniacal Rage", sorry to be one of the naggers - but thank you for the info Garrett. Feel like I have some serious money earning to do in order to be able to get a hold of such equipment... Anywho, the film looks, sounds and is great. Big up.

Phenomenal stuff. I know I'm stuck in the mix, but this was seriously great. You're a really good actor--it really reminds me of Mark Wahlberg at some points. Take that as you will, but I think it's a good thing!

Cinematography, of course, was phenomenal. That HVX200 really sets a new standard!

Script was awesome--the dialogue between the main characters seemed SO natural at points (specifically the bed scene where you're talking about telling her mom something)

    A++++++!!!! highly recommend!!

    (Great stuff, seriously!)

beautiful. touching. the couple reminded me so much of a relationship I had. (obvious) But I had never thought that if the world ended right there, I would have lived with her forever. it's a beautiful idea.
and I don't mean death. I mean a life contained in a short time, but lived as if it is forever. it's surreal, but beautiful. like the simple things.
