This week features the uber-talented Isaac Hand. Together, we make the newly formed band/musical collaboration, Turmeric (stay tuned to my myspace page for show information!). So far we are mostly known as a guitar and cello duo exploring complex long form instrumental songs, but our interests run deep in many directions.
Yesterday, I swung by the CAC (where Isaac works) to pick him up and go play spaces for his lunch break. "Playing Spaces" is a phrase I've come to use to describe the process of giving a physical space a second life as a musical instrument. Everything vibrates and makes sound when you hit it, so we decided to make some music, but this time Sawyer Point Park was our instrument. We each brought an array of striking implements-- from hammers, to drum sticks, to kitchen ware, to pencils. I did the filming with the help of the CAC's tripod (thanks Ken!).
Hope you enjoy.
