I didn't really need an excuse to dress up like a zombie...or to do a bar crawl in the afternoon...or to annoy shoppers on 5th Ave. and go to a Thriller dance party in front of the Plaza Hotel. But having 200 other zombies around me made it so much easier.

I believe it started as an idea (maybe 5 years ago?) at burning man, with the intent to remind people in major metropolitan areas to stop living life like zombies...seeing the dead look in people's eyes on the subway during rush hour, shopping on 5th avenue at chic stores trying to buy happiness, etc.

Now it's organized by an offshoot of the original guys who started it. I know they do it in San Fran & Toronto too...
