The Vestal Town Hall was packed with attendees from all over town as the board conducted its meeting. Why? Because they all wanted to talk about the possibility of a fracking ban or moratorium. There were people on both sides, though the pro-drillers in their little green caps stood out. At first, the Town Supervisor only wanted comments on items on the agenda, which did not include fracking, but he added an open comment period at the end of the meeting due to numerous requests from the audience. Also discussed was the election to fill the vacant seat on the board. The pro-drillers expressed quite a few errors on the legality of a ban or moratorium, which were clearly addressed in David Slottje's presentation (also in Ben B's collection here on Vimeo) on how and why towns could pass moratoria on gas drilling. Recorded on January 25, 2012.
