A collaboration between Gilje (video, set design, light design), sound artist Kelly Davis and choreographer Eva Cecilie Richardsen, first presented at BIT Teatergarasjen in Bergen, spring 2003.
A new version of Elevator with new material, new costumes and partially new music premiered in sep 2005.
As in the previous piece the raw material for the video is the motion of the dancers captured by two live cameras. The resulting video is backprojected on 3 3x1.2m black screens.
While the previous performance synk dealt with transformation of time ; distortion, displacement, delay, layering and buffering, elevator deals more with creating a spatial representation of time, by capturing slices of movement over time, using a customcreated program made in the graphical programming environment max, together with jitter and softvns. It implements different algorythms like rtx and feedback routines for transforming motion/time into spatial representation, and further layering and transformation of this information.
