As the budget process gets underway for the 2012-13 school year, Schalmont Central School District officials are projecting a buget gap between expenses and revenues once again this year due to increasing costs, dwindling state aid and the realities of a property tax levy cap.
On Jan. 17, 2012, Superintendent Valerie Kelsey, Director of Pupil Personnel Services Shari Lontrato and Jefferson Elementary School Principal Joby Gifford presented the financial state of the district, an overview of the budgetary challenges for the 2012-13 school year and ways community members can get involved and provide feedback on next year’s school budget.
