Last night the chinese government fired artilery shells filled with silver iodide at the clouds to make it rain. It rained and the wind blew the smog out to sea. Problem solved.

they make the farmers to the west do it, we can't hear it here. but they report on it on the news.

whats the general publics response to the pollution...we have seen news reports highlighting the increasing levels of smog and industrial waste....and I'm fully aware of my western culpabillity in its creation. But I'm intrested in your point of view..

i've only studied here for a few months, but the public here is vastly different from those of western countries. no one really discusses major issues on any kind of wide-spread forum. people deal with it and have grown accustom to it. everyone seems pretty complacent. the news channel on tv covers almost 100% puff pieces. "xing xing the panda is eating more bamboo this month than any other, it must be anticipating the olympics! yes! it wants to get big and show off its strength to the world come this august. next, we have a group of 4th graders who learned how to play the national anthem on grass, in anticipation of the 2008 beijing olympics." that is literally the transcript from the news i watched today. its a pretty messed up country.

One presumes, that your candid response is because you feel you have the freedom to comment...I can only base my assumptions on what my heavily corrupted western media feels I need to khow. So it is refreshing to hear your view point, we also are only shown and hear what it is deemed nescesary for us to hear. Direct frank dialouge such as this is all the more important for that reason..I look forward to seeing and hearing more about China and its people... thanks for taking the time to reply. Its not just there that is messed up most of the western world is in a state of liberal facism, we are held in by a padded cell of commercilism...a trully pathetic, destructive, greedy and unsustainable status quo...( rant over ).....what are you studying and where did you come from to get to china?

i'm majoring in international business (marketing), interntional studies and chinese. i'm orginally from baltimore maryland. i'm 18 and just got out of highschool and decided that this would be the best step for me to find out what i'm going to eventually do with my life. its just lead to lots of headaches and hours upon hours of class. also, i teach english to 14 yr olds in high school twice a week.

Well If I had less responsibillites here I would be trying to do something there, werd up mate your brave and your totally in the right place at the right time..,,I hope it dosn't harm you, smog is death by any other name...take all precautions you can. You got my respect ......have you been to the coutryside? it would seem its the farmers who are the agitaters nowadays....but there again what do I know..
  • Chip Thomas plus 2 years ago
yah it is the farmers mostly, you're totally right. i have, i traveled all the way north as mongolia. its pretty country up there.
  • 3d60 2 years ago
quite a turnaround, for the cultral revolution innit, the farming simple life that was so lorded becomes the powerhouse for change. I liked your Mongolia film, do you have any footage of the country would love to see.

i have about 2000 beautiful pictures which i'll eventually upload to flickr when i have a decent connection. i went to mongolia before i had a camcorder so i just used clips from a powershot. i think i may be headed out to the country side when my mid terms are over.

Clean as a whistle! What's all the fuss about? Oh dear, growing accustomed to it, that's scary. Go propaganda (sarcasm in case you didn't pick it up).
