The frame originally held a painting in the 1700's. In the 1800's, the side sconces

and mirror were added.

You are looking at an amazing period giltwood mirror from the mid 1700's. Sconces adorn each side of this mirror, and the entire piece is in good condition considering its age.

This frame originally held a painting as its original use. The 4 part mirror and sconces were added in the 1800's. The stylized sunflower Regence shell at the top has trailing foliate carving to either side. The 3 light bronze sconces of attenuated acanthus leaves curve gracefully over a cartouche of shell and acanthus leaves on a patterned background. There is giltwood decor throughout the frame.

This magnificent and rare mirror would grace any elegant environment.
