Still Moving

Stop motion Tilt shift meets tracking.
This technique is an extension of my other video The Persistence of Vision.
This is a photomotion made with a Canon G9 stills camera.
- no i didn't film it from a train or bike - no roller skates!
The work looks at the sublime act of perception and tries to re-present this.
Check out my new video Drift which develops this stop motion technique even further

its based on life drawing and observing when moving, so overlapping images as if you were looking at a subject instead of just taking a photo of a flat plane.
so to conclude yes its lots of images
so cool! :D
Is this only still images took in movement, really? Very smart!
even if I like more The Persistence of Vision, this gives you the impression you have when you see an interesting thing when you walk/run/drive. The same thing happens (at least, to me) when you catch a woman's eyes: for some miliseconds, everything stops and - even if you go on walking- everything turns around her.
How'd you get the framing so tight? How did you get the building to stay in exactly the same place in the frame?. Did you use a fixed lens?
I am blown away.
i used a canon G9, very time consuming but kind of medative as its so repetitious.
because they are all stills it means that you have a large frame to play with for composition
How much time did you spend on post ? Did you use tracking feature to fix frames over time, or is it a pure manual monk job ?
its a mix of manual and automated
don't know how many images it took - lots,
but its the time it takes to take them and process which really adds up!
i'm just watching it over and over again! can't stand it!
please tell us some more about the technique..
1.when you take photos, you have in mind the specific building to be in the same place, as possible? or what?
2.how many photos did you take for every scene; your camera has a continuous mode in taking photos? what fps?
3. tracking the image sequences on AE?
sorry about these so many questions but i really love it :P
thanks!
Still can understand how did you do that!
at the night time with wine i seen this video
really well
this is fantastic work,
do u have any royalty for this video coz i want to use this video for my students
i like the parts where buildings stay as the focal points and the foregrounds move around.
i've added it to my blog!
